DIY Mirrored Vase and Fall Flower Arrangement

I have been wanting to make these for some time now, but every time I went to my local Dollar Tree, they were out of stock. I happened to go in today to pick up cheap batteries for the kids toys and a couple of Halloween decorations for the house.

There was a little voice inside of my head saying, "Tamala, check the candle aisle and see if the mirrored tiles are in stock."

And to my surprise they were in stock and I was excited! I felt like a kid at Disneyland! It was that ridiculous. I wanted to scream and jump up and down, but I'm sure I would've looked a little crazy. I was excited, did I say that? Don't judge me, I was just really happy.

I have never made my own vase before so instead of buying all of the tiles I saw, I bought the five needed for this project. I wanted to make sure I could do it first, before I bought a million tiles and failed. So, I grabbed my five tiles, excitedly! I, then, thought, what am I going to put in my vase and where was I going to put the vase?

As I walked down the aisle I looked to the left and saw flowers...Insert bell here... DING DING!! I could put orange flowers for the Halloween/Fall/Thanksgiving theme in my dining room. I could then make this vase my focal point at the table. This vase that I had yet to make was going to be the center piece on my table. I was ready to go home and get started.

Things you'll need:

  1. Glue gun
  2. 5 mirrored tiles
  3. Flowers (or whatever you plan to put in the vase)
  4. Camera (optional, but I'm sure once it's done you are going to want to take pictures and send it to all of your friends, your sister, your mother and ME!!)

Let's get started:

Step 1: Let your hot glue gun heat up!

Step 2: Put one of the tile mirror side up on a flat surface. My tiles have little feet on them. I liked this because it wouldn't rub on my surface and scratch it.

Step 3: Add hot glue on one side of the second tile and stick it to the tile on the surface. You are going to repeat this step until you have glued all tiles to the bottom tile.

Once four tiles have been
glued, it'll look like this.

What I learned:
You will glue the tiles number 2, 3, 4 and 5 to tile #1 laying face down on the hard surface, but it won't stick right away. I had to go in and put glue on the inside to make the tiles stick together. Also, when you start to glue tiles 2, 3,4 and 5 you will want to glue them to the tile next to it. This will help with the sturdiness of the vase and help your vase stay together. Make sure you are adding the glue to the inside of the vase. You do not want any glue showing on the outside.

Step 4: once dry make sure all tiles are glue nicely to each other and that none are swaying or didn't get glued on the sides, as you intended.

Step 5: Once you have checked the vase and it looks great and all pieces are glued and connected, add your flowers. My flowers came in three bouquets, Black-eyed Susans, Daises and Orange beads.

Left to right: Daises, Beads and Black-eyed Susans

I stripped each bouquet apart so that I could place each individual flower where I wanted it to go. Any time I am making my own arrangement, I like to pull all flowers apart, it makes it easier to handle and manage that way. Place each flower exactly where you want it making sure you like the arrangement.

Step 6: Picture time!

Admire you creativity and how beautiful your vase and arrangement came out. Take pictures and start bragging to your friends. Also, don't forget to send me a picture of your vase and arrangement.

This vase is gorgeous! I love it so much. The orange flowers and beads just scream Fall to me. It looks perfect on my table!

What do you think? Let's chat in the comments...

I cannot take credit for thinking of this vase. I first saw this idea on Pinterest years ago, here.
